This fragrance transports you to a vintage tea shop, complete with all its perfect imperfections like creaky wooden floors and clacking jars of dried tea. It smells like freshly brewed hojicha upon the first spritz and as it settles into the skin, a milkiness blooms. By the second hour, it starts to smell sweeter like a matcha latte. On me, the scent smells like dried tea leaves and golden sun by the end of the day. There's a palpable warmth and toastiness that shines through. I was impressed how the tea notes remained all throughout the day. The peanut note really sells the toasted aroma, making you feel delicious and cozy anytime you wear it.
This perfume—where do I start.
From the bright, wet, vegetal opening that absolutely baffled me with its photorealism to its quick maturation to a softer, smoother, toasted, almost vanilla green tea— it feels like a green tea with milk, even if it’s not meant to have that note. I didn’t get any of the notes really and the scent isn’t lacking at all for it. One of the few scents I’d buy a full bottle of without hesitation; it’s experiential and feels like a meditation when I first put it on
I used to work for a high end tea company where we imported the most beautiful green teas from China. Once I even got to travel to China to visit the tea fields in rural mountainous mainland and go to a tea convention in HK. The opening of this scent is exactly like smelling freshly opened Pi Lo Chun and Dragonwell teas. I was shocked at how well that scent was captured. Then its really light and clean, and warms up to a gentle powdery sweetness. I also like to mix it with Sweet Leaf by Room 1015.
The notes in this are unexpected but they don't slap you in the face, and overall I think this is a unique but subtle fragrance for everyday, fall, or a pick-me-up. The coconut note is what stood out to me, and reminded me more of fresh coconut water rather than a sunscreen/beachy feel. That paired with the green tea makes the sweetness really low and manageable, and the dry down is cozy and subtle. Sillage is not heavy and someone could smell it on you if they hugged you.
This is such an incredible scent, like none other I have smelled before! I ordered the sample size and after a long search, I decided this would be my signature scent. The hojicha and peanut notes are delicious and I feel like I have not smelled those in any other perfumes. The hint of coconut is not overpowering and compliments the hojicaha, peanut, vanilla, and floral notes nicely. I would say it's the perfect summer gourmand - not heavy but sweet and uplifting. I highly recommend!
