09 | Around the World

Have Perfume, will travel. On a planet where borders often blur, fueled by globalization, what role do scents play? Simultaneously universal yet culturally specific, how do they contribute to our heritage? How do raw materials and fragrant compositions travel? This ninth issue of Nez takes you on an olfactory journey around the world through the prism of history, anthropology, science, art, literature, trade and marketing. The final destination? A greater understanding of the power that the sense of smell has in our lives.

Nez Issue 09 is paired with Folia, a fragrance collaboration between perfumer Julien Rasquinet and visual artist Eva Jospin. Inspired by Eva's dense forests, caves and grottos hand-carved out of cardboard and some of moulded concrete, Julien created a sublime geosmin scent that superimposes earth, stone, leaves and water.

Notes: mushroom, moss, minerals, water on flint, pine needles, vetiver, patchouli, geosmin, orange blossom, dark undergrowth.
