Nektar captures the different facets of Sidr Honey from the Omani Jujube tree, as well as its natural surroundings. Nektar was created by Pierre-Constantin Guéros, a perfumer at Symrise. Originally from France, Pierre worked as a perfumer in Dubai for a number of years, and developed a strong connection to Middle Eastern culture.
“The first inspiration for this perfume was a beautiful trip to Wadi Darbat, in the South of Oman. It is a unique place in the Middle East because all the Monsoons coming from India are finishing their flow here. Instead of being dry and desert-like, as one would expect, this region is lush and very diversified from a botanical point of view: large rivers, big trees and a peculiar treasure belonging to this region, the Sidr Tree.
The Sidr Tree has nothing in common with the cedar tree. It is an ancient tree from the Ziziphusfamily, which produces beautiful red fruits and amazing flowers. Thanks to these flowers, local bees produce the most rich, exclusive, characteristic honey you can ever imagine. It is well known under the name Yemen Sidr Honey. I had the chance to spend a few days there with a botanist and an “incense farmer”, and I came back from this trip with the inspiration for Sidr Valley. I created a perfume which captures the different facets of Sidr Honey and its natural surroundings.” – Pierre-Constantin Guéros
